Full Version: CONTEST TIMES!
Zeldafront RPG Stone > Tael, Tatl & Navi > Tatl
Collin
Fun, I was planning this for Valentines and it was going to be very sappy and romantic. TOO BAD! No such romance in Tatl while I'm around to be this lazy.

NEways, since we've been having a fair bit of newcomers with the ability to draw, and a another bit of people returning who can draw, this calls for another art-contest. And since I usually am the one to start such silly things I will also start this silly thing now. Silly is a silly word, yes.

ON TO THE RULES!

Last time we went with a theme, this time I've thought up something a bit different. You're all going to have to pick a post, any post, anywhere from the RP-areas (perhaps even from the old boards, if you are still able to find them). And you're going to have to draw a comic, or an illustration depicting your own set post. The post doesn't necesarily have to be yours, nor anyone from your party, it could just be a post you really liked, or something you can really make an image of, I don't really care.
Make sure to tell which post it is you're going for though, this could affect the judges. tounge.gif

For judging we'll make a poll, so that everyone can choose their favorite. I'm not sure about prizes yet, but I'm thinking something in-game or at least something significant. Don't spear me on this yet, I don't even know if I'll participate or not, perhaps I'll just make an example picture.

Oh yeah, a deadline! Errr... How sounds a month from here? Like the end of March, the 25th or something. That gives you about five weeks... Should be enough... wow.gif

TL;DR
- CONTEST!!1!
- Pick an RP-post, from anywhere on the RP-boards, any one RPer.
- Make a picture or comic of said post
- Finish and post picture the 25th of March
- Have fun and vote
- Perhaps win something cool
Wrinkles
Hoo-rah! lol.gif Now for a question: are there any restrictions on the posts? Like, can I choose a post with a group of people?
Collin
Oh, I don't think we need restrictions, really. If the story doesn't come across in one post, then pick a series to complete the scene, just be sure to tell which post(s) you've used. smile.gif

Restrictions aren't really useful if you're trying to be creative...
Charlie
Sounds like fun. I'll draw something for this, and probably send it in 6 months past the deadline, but I'll still own all of you.
Siras
I'll give it a shot. I need a chance to get better.
Shrale
I'll take a shot at it, I've already picked out a couple of post to draw. By the way, do we simply make our own post with the art, or would you prefer to have more control over the submissions by having us e-mail them to you and then you post them in a poll? Also, what format shoud the submissions be in?
Faust
[obligatory "I'm entering" post]

Yeah sure I'll try. Doubt it'll turn out looking like anything at all (except maybe a torture device), but I'll try nontheless.

[/obligatory "I'm entering" post]

Raeden
I vote for Frietepiet, because his entry is so awesome I wet my pants and those of anyone who was within a 12 mile radius of me anywhere between 6 months before I saw it and 30 years after it.
Arsenic
I guess I'll enter. I've been wanting to try out this new drawing technique anyway.
Gubai
Who knows, I might just enter. Though I have little to no talent; I'm starting to like the rpg again. Gotta keep that flowing tounge.gif
Wrinkles
wow.gif Eight people claim they might send in a picture! Oooo, the competition is tough. But what it all boils down to is...well, who has the most artistic talent, I guess. Now, a complaint: I hate drawing circles brandy. And can anyone tell me what color brandy usually is? I've never had a sip. sad.gif
Collin
Apparantly it's a brownish colour. I figured as much, but I don't aspire to become a hero, so yeah, never drank the stuff.

You know, I actually missed these questions completly...

Personally, I don't much care where you upload your files, as long as they end up on the boards before or on the 25th. I'm not going to force you to send it to me, god knows what I'll do to them, I'll probably lose them... Furthermore, the size, format, posting is all up to you.

Ugh, I still need to get started.
Charlie
Gee, I lost my copy of illustrator, AGAIN! I guess my entry will be done in MSpaint sad.gif
Shrale
Illustrator is an expensive program, I wanted to get it, but I found Gimp, which is similar to Adobe Photoshop and it is free. I hope I get my picture of the post I've selected done in time, if I don't then I'll try next contest. I love the challenge. biggrin.gif

Not as expensive as Photoshop, though!
Shrale
No, Photoshop's price is crazy. Anyway, are your entering the contest? If so that means more competition, which means more variety of art to view. Anyway just thought I'd let Charlie know of something that could be used in place of Illustrator and would not cost.
Arsenic
If gimp's similar to Photoshop, then it's probably not going to be an Illustrator replacement.

And I'll probably enter. I have a post (or a series of them, rather) and a general idea, but hopefully I'll have time to get it done.
Avy
So, say someone/something is dying.

...Can there be blood? : D Like, lots of it? Morbidly placed in an untimely-death of a man/beast/foe and whatnot?
Shrale
Gimp is no Illustrator, but Photoshop and Illustrator have the same purpose in mind, and that is art. They just work different in some ways and similar in some ways. I personally would choose Illustrator over Photoshop, especially if I had a Tablet. Unfortunately, I can't afford either. lol.gif

The blood thing, Avy, I don't know if that would be allowed, since most of the Zelda games do not have blood in them. Twilight Princess, I have not played yet so I don't know if there is blood in it or not. Anyway, since it is a RPG forum, they might allow blood in your drawing. Me, well, I think that some scenes require blood to set the whole mood of the drawing, while other scenes could actually do fine with or without. To be on the safe side, though, ask an administrator.

Specifically Naaf, since she's the one organizing all this =D

Warez are free tounge.gif, and for the way I use the software (like once every two months for personal fun) it's perfectly acceptable not to pay for it. I'll look into Gimp, but so far illustrator has been the only software that suited my needs.
Collin
I don't mind any blood, gore or intestines flying around. O__o In a drawing, that is, I'll probably pass out at the sight of it were it happening for real. tounge.gif

Edit: But I can't really recall when that happened in a post anywhere?
Avy
Anytime something dies, is what I'm talking about. Maybe even those little 'Chus - they're jelly gets kind'a messy.
Collin
Oh, right. Sure, be my guest. biggrin.gif
Collin
Just a reminder to everyone (specifically because I haven't even started yet) there's only three days left till the twentyfifth of March!
Levi Ice-Cleaver
Yay, procrastination. tounge.gif

I really wonder what posts were chosen.
Raeden
well I finished my entry, sort off. Turns out my scanner doesn't work sad.gif
Arsenic
Due to Brawl, I in fact will not be submitting anything. Don't have enough time to finish. tounge.gif
Siras
Same as above biggrin.gif
Wrinkles
Well, since we're all throwing excuses into the Dimensional Portal of Unfinished Artworks, I have something to add: my Wacom started messing up yesterday, after I began the contest submission the day before. So I guess I'll submit what I have done, I'm sure you'll like it. tounge.gif You can say that in its unfinished version, it's drastically different from the post(s) I chose.

That does it. I'm going to show that it's possible to make a good drawing in an afternoon. I'm going to start tomorrow and finish tomorrow evening/night. tounge.gif
A good procrastinator can do that. tounge.gif
Arsenic
Unlike you, most of us have to actually spend time doing contest-worthy artwork. tounge.gif

I don't think I would have finished it anyway. I kinda stopped working on it a while before Brawl came out.
Shrale
Is there a specific time submissions have to be turned in, because I usually do not get to post until late? I have not even started on the drawing, I don't know if I'll have it done or not, but it is possible to do a drawing in an evening.
Charlie
I'm gonna show you all that it's possible to make a really lousy computer drawing within an hour. I'm gonna start now and post it within the hour. Unless sleep comes up.

[EDIT] Being a good wrench wench I fixed my scanner instead.

You'll need to click it because well, my awesome is too awesome to show in a thumbnail.
[EDIT2] Since everyone is doing it, here's the link to the post.
Now, where's my prize?

Oh, it's not over yet. I'll have my drawing up by the end of the day. And remember may the best art win. lol.gif

Collin
Will you let me colour! tounge.gif

I'm going to be honest though, I was planning to make a four/five page comic. And I was being all cocky and sure I could make it... But alas, that comic will have to wait. It's going to be an illustration for the contest.

I've been working on mine and it is coming along nicely. I've been experimenting with painting with Gimp. It's looking good for my first time doing digital painting. I'll have it up this evening, U.S. time.

This post.

I don't know... O__o I rushed and I lost interest after colouring Collin's hair. What I do like is that Collin's look gives me goosebumps, it's just effing evil.

Didn't turn out quite what I wanted, but that's fine. I started about two hours ago...started coloring about twenty minutes ago when I looked at the time and realized I had to go to work right about now. So the coloring sucks, but rest assured it looked real nice before then! wink.gif I'm sure you guys can guess who's who. I'm not /that/ bad. I was also testing out various mediums, thus the strange...mixture...look... Hmmm...

I like it, it's my first time doing digital painting. It didn't turn out too bad. I drew Raeden and layered him in, but the rest is painted, except the two nanoblins. I had fun doing it too, I may try my hand at digital painting again, who knows.

Everybody's drawing the Stumpfins. sad.gif

The drawings do look awesome though.

Yeah well it helps that two of them are actually made by stumpfins tounge.gif Well, at least my alter is.

Also, since everyone is doing it and it's probably in the rules (can't be assed to read them again), here's my link to the post I drew: CLICK BYATCH!
It's also under my entry now.

And I should probably say something nice about Collin's, Wrinkles' and Shrale's entries, because they are really nice. I'm especially honoured that Shrale decided to draw Raeden. Though the two Nanoblins look like a bit like one pokémon, Slaking or something (I'm not so pokéwise). Love the Chuchu eyes.
