Lydia

Name: Lydia Haedraline Lark.
Gender: Female.
Age: 26.
Race: Hylian.
Class: Doctor, Witch Doctor.
Looks: Dr. Lark stands roughly 6 feet tall, with good posture, from the top of her hat to the souls of her tiny shiny shoes. Her skin is the color of a soft crème; always protected from the summer sun. She has long and elegant features, such as her hands, which are delicate enough to cut and remove a kidney without making much of a mess.
The Doctor's eyes are sharp and sensitive - they work best in bright light - and can spot almost any internal illness just by looking at you. Dr. Lark also has the outline of every bone in her body tattooed on her skin in dark brown ink, and a darker shade of black underlying her eyes. Across her mouth and a bit further out are five equally spread vertical ink lines that are probably an inch long. The Doctor doesn't really like people observing her tattoos.
Clothes: The good Doctor dresses a bit more fun than the career-given attire since she isn't bound by any licenses. Besides bras, panties, and socks, Lydia wears a button-up vest-like undershirt with a collar and black bowtie. Over that, but not concealing the collar and tie, is a long sleeve shirt with huge frilly ruffles at the wrists. Both shirts cut off above the stomach, but the second layer's back continues down and splits into two triangle tails. At this point, without the big-buttoned trench coat as the final layer, her baggy pants are seen. They are constantly seen with a belt looped around, keeping the pants just above her hip bones. They cover all the way down to her ankles, where two shiny black dress shoes peek out from under the baggy fabric.
The colors vary each day she remembers to change, but most commonly she resorts to a warm color scheme selection. As far as accessories go, she has a tall top hat gently resting on her head at all times, and a slender ball-tipped cane made in the shape of a pointing hand at the bottom. Most of the time she uses it for pointing things at a greater distance, walking, or possibly keeping dirty little kids from stepping on her shoes. There is also a white handkerchief placed in one of the trench coat’s pockets that Dr. Lark carries around just in case she doesn't want to touch something she deems 'too dirty' and another handkerchief in the opposite pocket that's used to clean her shoes in a quick moment.
Personality: For her verbal preferences, Dr. Lark loves to brag, preferably about her job - though she hates work - or about her monkey, Michelangelo. Keeping her shoes clean is Dr. Lark's top priority and insulting and/or pointing out her tiny feet gets her terribly annoyed. She's most fond of hand-made objects, mostly dolls and stuffed toys. Knowing how to use needlework herself, Dr. Lark likes to make dolls of people she meets in her spare time - idolizing her creations and keeping them safe. Insulting this hobby could result in a fine during your next appointment.
She's kind to her customers and plays with her patients. Above all, she knows her manners, but won't dare to use them until she gains some trust first. Obviously, she automatically trusts those that come to her for help since they are taking a risk to trust her. Fortunate enough, Lydia isn't interested in meeting and making new friends - or acquaintances for that matter. She's quite confident and satisfied with what she knows and has - plus her interaction is limited due to work. But, taking great pride of her single status, Lydia loves to tease older men. Much older men. Since she's a pretty thing, behind the tattoos really, they flirt back for sport - which is as far as she let things get. Her smoking and drinking buddies actually know her more than her family does - she's not gullible to quickly hand out personal information, but prefers keeping her public and private life kept from the knowledge of her loved ones.
The Doctor is more of a gentleman than a lady: she holds a high respect for women and considers most men as 'her buddies'. She enjoys the company of both genders, but isn't attracted to either one of them. No, Lydia simply doesn't have the time to romance - the Doctor's schedule is full and barely has enough time to tease as it is. Out of respect, she never smokes or drinks in public.. unless at a bar or off to the side.
One more thing: Lydia doesn't start or indulge in any kind of physical fight. She'll either back out or distract the attention away from herself.
Biography: Born into this world in Hyrule, Lydia Haedraline was a fierce child that always wanted more than what she had. At first, her parents gave her anything her heart desired - until the family neared heavy debt. Since this scenario lasted 10 years, Lydia was, by that time, old enough to go to a trade school. Her interests in science and medicine led her in the direction of getting her a license to become a fully-equipped doctor and surgeon. It took five years of schooling before she could start practicing on real patients, three years to get enough education to become a surgeon, and another two years to get a job. At a very young age, Lydia was an excellent doctor. She was concerned about her patients and followed through procedures with stunning accuracy and always found success.
Also at this young age, she started to experiment at a couple of bars. It didn't take long for her weekend visits to stretch into the weekdays, addicting the prodigy to all kinds of alcohol. Before her first anniversary of the job, Lydia ruined her career. She was, one day, consuming a fair amount of intoxicating beverages and still decided to show up for work. That day called for a fast surgery - and Lydia was a main dissector. The results of the failure was labeled on Lydia's permanent record, and also cost her the job. Her malpractice was not dealt well within court, and she owed the community (and the family of the patient) a debt of service.
Luckily, Lydia had enough money to pay off the debt to the family the very first day, but then worked for them in servitude. What little she had left was stored in the bank and was never touched again until many years later. The young woman loathed her new lifestyle of being a servant for the Lark family, constantly washing and cleaning or often being sent to the market to fetch some items.
This new house was keeping up with the times - rebuilt every year to keep up with the latest fads and always hosting several get-togethers for neighboring upper-classmen. It consisted of a man, his wife, and their two daughters. It was missing one member - the grandfather - his life was the price for Lydia's malpractice. Her starting respect from these people started low, but with hard work she built up a nice reputation among the Lark family and their friends. Lydia was allowed to send letters to her parents, informing them of her current state and ask about their well-being.
Soon, the letter traffic let up and Lydia learned to become more independent.
The oldest daughter, Hayle, and the youngest, Kai, were both younger than Lydia Haedraline. The three of them, after some time to mend past feelings, became playmates and friends. The father was an adventurer and often left the house weeks at a time to explore Hyrule. Occasionally, he would leave for a month and bring back trinkets from Termina. His wife, Claudia, was a patient seamstress and never minded his sudden bursts to leave for his adventures. During her spare time, Lydia would watch Claudia stitch the holes in clothes back together. Noticing her curiosity, Claudia offered lessons during Lydia's days off. Lydia learned how to sew by the next year with promising skill.
After a couple of years of bonding, Hayle fell deathly ill. At first, she was diagnosed with a cold, but it quickly got out of hand. Another visit to the doctor's office was required one night, but the offices were not opened. The faithful husband went to go look for the doctors at their houses, later to bring one back and discover the Lydia had already healed the girl in his absence. The family gathered around Hayle's bed, closely watching for any more signs of ailment. Lydia denied practicing medicine on the girl - as she was stripped of her license - and Hayle was hallucinating all-the-while and did not know how she was healed.
A year later, Hayle died of an unknown cause. An autopsy was not allowed to be conducted, and that's the way the Lark family wanted it. In her sleep, Lydia raved and admitting to being the cause of her friend's death, but no one could prove her right.. or wrong. A few nights later, Lydia and Kai visited Hayle's grave, where they reopened the coffin and corpse to find the cause. Lydia, already knowing what to find, prepared Kai for what she was about to see. "If the mouse squeaks, the lion pounces, and swallows down those little ounces."
Kai knew this was sworn to secrecy, and allowed her foster-sister to crack open Hayle's chest. Inside, a small, bloody, handheld doll was placed next to Hayle's heart - covered in old blood. The unbearable smell didn't keep them there long, but Lydia removed the doll and sealed the girl back up. She explained to Kai, and to Kai only, that she placed it there to keep a rib from puncturing Hayle's heart, which would have killed her anyway - the body was finally rejecting it a year later. Once back at the house and cleaned up, Kai studied the doll and to her surprise found that it looked a lot like Hayle. It was blatantly obvious that Lydia made it herself.
Lydia was discouraged to continue her servitude, so she gradually eased off the chores and let a paid professional take over. She also became a sort of replacement for the lost daughter, treated on a much higher level of respect and given the old room to stay in. For practice with her doll-making, she moved off from human models for a while and studied animals. Her first animal doll was of a spider monkey she saw littering the streets. Upon finishing the doll and taking it home with her, the monkey followed as well. Never keeping it as a pet, Lydia would at least find it in the streets and play with it for a while before retrieving food supplies from the market.
When Kai grew up and got married, Lydia stayed a while with her foster parents, keeping them company and quite healthy for their age. She was in her twenties, obviously, and not so eager to leave another home again. To pass the time and to somewhat support herself, Lydia opened up a small shop to sell dolls and other stuffed toys. When business started to fall, she upped the ante and made her items look weird. Her cozy shop grew into a barely successful line of voodoo wear, encouraging the public to learn a little magic of their own. Inspired by the objects that the Lark family had kept, Lydia made her items in their image. Not quite as successful as she'd like, Lydia still earned enough respect and favor in the small sector of the market to become a popular tourist location under the disguise of a trade post.
Finally accepting her career as a doctor was completely banished, Lydia took up a new knowledge to medicine and earned the title of 'Witch Doctor' amongst the society. Taking to it like, she took to it interest. Eventually, the small shop became popular enough for the young age of teens to want a job there. Lydia personally trained every worker and lets them take care of things while she's away - which is quite often.
Item storage: Besides the smaller pockets located on her pants and coat, Lydia carries a small sling-on kit to hold her working tools, dolls, and other findings that are small enough but are too big for clothing pockets. It's made of fine leather and pelts. The kit has a side pocket that unfurls outward and holds firmly her little tools such as needles, scalpels, small tongs, and stitches.
Skills: Lydia doesn't know how to use magic. Nor does she know how to successfully defend herself in a serious combat scenario. She carries a lot of stilettos for good reason: she doesn't know how to use any other kind of blade. If she was ever in the need to defend herself at close range, Lydia is barely skilled with a short blade but knows the weak points on a human body. The charms that she carries and uses mostly confuse the target. Normally, they can redirect the attention of the subject to target something else to be hostile to - specifically people or animals nearby. Lydia also never lost her ability for accuracy and precision - making her the best unlicensed surgeon in town. And because of constant practice, Lydia is an excellent shoe-shiner.
Weapon: One of many objects and abilities she uses to combat with is a common Voodoo doll. She can make one at any given moment with her tools and surrounding resources. It takes quite some time to piece together, but she'll have minimum control over the target once complete. The longer it takes to make one, the better it's effects are and the more control she has. For those that want to see a more physically sharp weapon, Lydia carries around small darts with her and those with a bottle of poison. Most of the darts have already been dipped in the non-perishable poison and have small tip-covers to prevent spreading. To shoot the darts, Dr. Lark carries a short, hollow tube of slender wood that was found during one of her foster father’s adventures. Also, she has two stilettos concealed amongst her clothes. One is placed in a coat pocket - her favorite accessible spot – and the other in her kit. She has a couple of small charms - some she has made herself. She also carries around some explosive powder - sometimes harmful to the target, or sometimes just to distract.
Starting Place: Hyrule: Castle Market.

I see what you did there. Using small letters to make your app look shorter, eh? Well you won't fool me.
First of all: I adore this application. It's original, you've obivously put a lot of thought in it. The biography is weird, but weird in a good way.
But, before I can give you my check, you need to clarify those charms a bit. I take you mean some form of spell or magic item? If so, could you be a bit more exact about their effects? Also, you state that your character doesn't know how to use magic, but later you say that she made some of these charms herself. How does that work?

You're right, I didn't clear that up.
But I'm keeping the letter size!

Not to poke around, but are you Wrinkles ('cause there's lots of style similarities, not to mention font size)? And didn't you already have a second char...? (I might be mistaken about that though).

I'm not Wrinkles or his/her second character. Was it bad to shrink the font size if I'm mistaken for someone else, then? But I'm curious about the details on style similarities that you figure - am I not original?
Aure

You're very original! It's just that he also shrinks his font size and has a similar form of language use. It's very nice to see two such good writers here then!

Yeah, I just wanted to know the answer to the question, but obviously it's all good now. Stamped for approved.
