So, this is the Raeden said we don't have a musicals thread, so... here it is? Any you loved, hated? As I've said before, I believe Les Miserables the musical was phenominal, with the best score I've heard, but there were to others I also really liked. Sweeney Todd, despite its creepiness, because some of the songs I just really enjoyed, namely "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" and "Have a Little Priest" (gruesome, but hilarious too, if that's at all possible), and Avenue Q, because it's just plain funny, despite all the raunchiness.

So, I'm done with my little rant for now...
Charlie
I still have to see Avenue Q, mainly because it's never played in the Netherlands as far as I know, and I wouldn't want to see it translated to Dutch anyway ("het internet is voor porno" ninja.gif). I promised a friend we would go see it together sometime in the UK or the states.

Sadly I haven't seen a lot of musicals recently. I missed "Doe Maar" because I was sick, and other than that there didn't play a lot of good musicals around here for the past year. Maybe I'll go see Tarzan in Scheveningen later, if I can cough up the money for a decent seat. And I have a ticket for Anatevka, so next year promises to be better.

Favourite musicals I've seen were (apart from Les Mis, of course), Blood Brothers, Romeo & Juliet, Rent (deffinitely the weirdest musical ever), and the Lion King (mainly because of the impressive props and the awesome music).
Siras
The biggest one I've seen has the voice that calls to you, that calls your name. This quote has no need to say what musical it's from. Or does it *Grins menacingly*

There's a musical version of Romeo & Juliet? I had no idea... huh.gif
Raeden
Yes. I don't remember if it was a big production (it was Dutch so there's a chance it wasn't international). But it's one of the most adapted plays in history. There's even an opera version of it. So if you search around a bit I bet you'll find a musical version playing somewhere, sometime.

I went to see 'Mama Mia' a year or so ago, and that was awesome, seriously.

But then I saw 'Wicked' in London, I was trully amazed by that performance.
Aure
I've never really seen a musical in the theatre... Except for my sister's school version of The Wiz. I'm going to NY this summer though, so I'm definitely gonna visit a musical then!

I'm jealous. glare.gif I've heard a few songs from the Musical, and I've also heard from several friends that it's an amazing show. Definitely one I'd like to see someday.

That and Spamalot.

I've seen Fame, when I was in London. Apparantly the substitute players were sitting a row behind us, because they were screaming like schoolgirls and singing and dancing along all the time, my ears have rung for days on end after that. I didn't like the play because of them. sad.gif

I'm most fond of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, though that may not fall under the musical category anymore. Still, it'd be nice to go to one of the midnight showings and dress up like Magenta.

Last musical I saw was Lord of the Rings, which was an awesome experience. especially the songs where good. You should youtube 'm, 'specially if you like folk and such.

I remember hearing that they made that a musical! Sounds interesting...
Aure

They sort of have one like that already. And when I say sort of, I mean in the loosest sense. As in, don't bring young children to see it. Ever.

Ah, Avenue Q. Your indecentness makes me laugh and recoil at the same time... disgust.gif
