Well here i go I said I would make a Deku Guide so here it is folks.

Also questions in blue, tips and other stuff in orange.

Their are four different types of Scrubs Mad ones, Business ones, Royal ones(Guards go here too.)and plain old Deku Scrubs.

Eventually I will talk about all four but, that is for later. Here is a quick rundown. They are made of wood and leaves. Touching fire would be a big no no for a Deku Scrub. They also hop across water until they run out of skips or make it to another piece of land. They all seem to know how to attack in some way or form.

If I make any posts here as Ventus I am truly sorry and the next thing up is talking about the Normal Deku Scrubs. Oh yes and I was inspired by the Tokay Guide by Shrale.
Ranuu
How are you going to rationalize the water-skipping, though? I mean, getting across water was going to be necessary in MM, so they put that in, but they never explained it. If you put a piece of bark in water, sure, it'll float, but if you put a log (or a deku, I would assume) in that same water, then wouldn't it sink?

I'm not trying to tell you not to incorporate the water-skipping by any means... just asking for some creative reasoning =)

Olli
My guess is that Deku's are hollow so they are much lighter then a log, but can only skip for so long, and well then start to drown. And thanks for the input thats the reason it is here, to make me think.
Nyx
Maybe a logical explanation for the skipping:
I picture it as throwing pebbles: as long as they have speed, they bounce. And that's what happens with Dekus: the moment they don't have the speed anymore, they sink. Though in Majora's Mask the speed you have as Deku before hitting the water doesn't matter for the amounts of skips, the speed you have when you start to skip does matter in distance though; it'd be more realistic if you'd bounce ánd less far, and skip less than when you start to skip with more speed.
They 'launch' theirselfs from the water using their (maybe) magic feet, using the surface tension as much as possible (or maybe they use their magic in their feet to make the water more dense, and won't sink as quick as normal).

Conclusion: the spin is necessary to gain speed so they can bounce on the water much like a pebble does. They 'launch' theirselfs from the water in a low angle using their feet. They strenghten the launching effect by using magic in their feet.

Just a theory, nothing more or less. Hope I helped.
Olli
Do you mind if I copy and paste that it is an awesome theory.
Nyx
I don't mind.

Hi all. I know you like your fancy colours, but they're kind of hard on the eyes. I'd like to ask you all to use orange and darkblue for your posts. I think these colours are best for all lay-outs.

CODE
[color=orange][/color]
[color=darkblue][/color]

Furthermore, Olli, I would like you to pay more attention to your spelling and punctuation. Your opening post is kind of hard to understand this way.

EDIT: Colours seem to be a problem with different lay-outs. Give me a minute to find something suitable for all of them. Done.
Ventus
I am thinking of putting up some classes and their looks like, Shrale, but whatever he is a kind of inspiration. blush.gif
Shrale
Thank you, I'm honored. I cannot wait to see the finished product. Good luck with the guide.
Ventus
Thanks I try to work on it as much as I can but...

The Business dekus. Personally this is what Olli was going to be at first, but a little fat scrub stuck in my mind better then a tall fat scrub! But seriously we need some of these scrubs.

I will make a picture sometime soon but deal without it.

The business deku sits in a flower and waits for some unwilling person to come. They can be really friendly and just ask to sell you stuff, or be real nasty and shoot deku nuts at you. They sell all sorts of stuff, and if we got a lot of people playing as them we could send out those Deku Plots like in MM.

They can also travel from place to place, and could start as a minor business and work up, or be an outlaw Huge business scrub selling illegal stuff. If you were to find an illegal scrub they would most likely try and buy you off, or kill you.

They can also sit in buildings much like Olli, but it might affect there adventurers businessas no one wants to come in town. I may try and make a building in both Clocktown and Hyrule Castle Town. In this building it would be much like stock. You buy stock you sell stock you get rich. But I would make it a Deku secret hiding place, and maybe some shifty Characters, but this would only happen if an Admin allows it. Please keep in mind it is not absolute either.

I think that covers my Businees scrub post, but if you think I should add more please state so in comments tounge.gif

Might as well give my two cents.... Even though this topic hasn't been posted in for a while.

Don't know if many of you know about this, but it's actually been suggested that Deku Travel is a lot more difficult than one would first think. Well, at least for the Hylian Deku.

QUOTE
Soon, Lord Ganon's power
will change all of Hyrule's
forests into Lost Woods!

Once that happens, we'll be
able to travel freely!

QUOTE
Make sure that all who
enter the forest remain
here! Lord Ganon's orders!

But we're trying to build an
underground road that will
let us go anywhere...

Anyway, we've hidden
every single shovel we
could find!

If there are no holes, no
one will ever find our road.
We're absolutely brilliant!

QUOTE
Ah... I love darkness.
It's so soothing, so
relaxing.

This suggests that Deku Scrub cannot leave the shade, and prefer deep shadow over all. But then, we've seen Business Scrubs out of the shade, haven't we? And Deku Link didn't seem to have any problem at all going through the sunniest of areas.

It would seem Terminian Deku, and Business Scrubs in general are slightly more advanced than their brethren, which makes sense given the advanced Terminian culture and a Business Scrub's obviously more evolved form... But why can their kin not leave the shade of the Lost Woods?

I've got my own theories, but I'll leave this as is, for now. Oh, though, before this ends... One other thing.
QUOTE
The Lost Woods is our
birthplace!

If you wander lost here for
too long, you too can
become a Deku Scrub!

All of this info comes from my own playthrough of Four Swords Adventure, backed up by this game script.
Olli
What he logged in?

Hello all. Now I shall cover deku scrubs.

They usually have no special abilities. However they are most likely to be fighters. They would be armed with deku nuts and possibly knives or sharpened deku sticks. They can roam around but are probably allowed in most of The Deku Palace.

Ok my business Deku business has come to plan. Olli will be invited to Outset Island being asked to make a new café and along with that more instructions on a new building. This would be a huge trading outpost for Business Deku Scrubs. I also ask that maybe this could be Deku Scrubs only, such as Subrosia is, am I correct? Just a thought.

Royal scrubs next.
Shrale
I was playing Zelda: The Minish Cap, and I found something regarding the spitting of Deku nuts or seed from their mouths. This occurred in the beginning of the game where Link and Zelda are heading to the Castle for an event and a Business Deku is in the way. When Link and Zelda spoke with the Deku it mentioned that when they speak it is hard for them to do it without spitting their nuts or seeds, kind of like when some people speak and they spit with each word that comes out of their mouth.

I just thought that this might make playing a Deku a bit more realistic. You can play the game to see what I'm talking about. Keep up the work on this guide. Good luck.
Olli
(Thanks Shrale)

Steiroid Dekus-
The strongest of all Deku. The are armed to the umm funnel with weapons. I guess I should said their real name is elite Deku, but that is no fun.

Their appearance differs from most scrubs, as most don't have any plantlife, other than bark. They as a result of plantlessness do not have access to flowers, but gain so much more power. They are as tall as a business scrub, but much bulkier. All in all they are a big ball of power for the Deku's that have never been seen until recently.

As I just stated many of them have never been seen. I imagine they could be a typical warrior, but not a druid or any mage (Especially fire!), due to the fact they are stronger than most. I think this would be an interesting adventurer.

Now just because they can't fly they can't hide in flowers. In all honesty I think flowers shoulld be connected to other flowers in the area (Roleplaying wise). Please cool.gif

That could make them stealth ninjas, or fighters, or you could always make the unexpected and make the Steiroid Deku looking to be a merchant who fails epically tounge.gif.

So yep that is my section on the steroid (elite... ugh) Deku smile.gif.
