Jonas
Name: Jonas Andreas Hemikhov
Gender: Male
Age: 35 years
Race: Terminian/Hylian
Class: Travelling Craftsman

Looks: Though not of exceptional length (6 feet), no-one will ever consider Jonas to be a little man; he’s quite muscular.
The sun, the rain and the wind made his body rough and gave his face a weathered look. People say the sea can be seen within Jonas’ bright green-grey eyes, which are very striking beneath his dark eyebrows.
His nose is like a rock in the stormy sea, it stands firm and looks like it will never break. In contradiction to rocks in the sea though, it hasn’t any sea acorns and shells growing on it.

Tangled, almost-black rope that had too much sun is the best description that can be given of his hair. As for the length; it starts at ear-height, and ends where the wrinkles on his forehead begin. He cuts it off every now and then as he doesn’t want to be bothered by hair hanging before his eyes.
As for the facial hair, Jonas keeps sideburns and a stubby beard; the result of not shaving a lot.
As told earlier, his skin has been touched by the sun quite some hours. It left his thick skin quite tanned. Here and there Jonas’ skin has been lightly scarred; though not badly. Though most people consider scars as ‘ugly’, they strengthen Jonas’ weathered look. Like a whale that has swum around for a long, long time.

Clothes: Fashion is one of the things Jonas doesn’t care about at all. Practical, sturdy clothing in neutral colours that last long, that’s what he wants. His most important garment is his leather coat, made from the skin of a couple of seals (he made it himself, far away from the eyes of Greenpeace; the seals were dead though). It has been his most loyal friend till now, always giving him warmth and –quite literally- an extra skin. It’s dark brownish with patches of seal-hair still attached to it. It has many pockets that keep stuff and make the coat quite heavy.
He wears a shirt underneath this coat.
A brief note should be that Jonas doesn’t really wear anything on his upper-body when the temperature is high and he isn’t travelling.

His pants are very much like jeans. The baggy version, in a dark-brown colour, made of cotton. It’s a showing signs of being worn out; more and more patches appear to fix a hole. Underneath the pants he wears a pair of customized clogs. Impregnated dark wood on the outside, soft water-resistant leather on the inside. Though it’s easy for Jonas to get his feet into the clogs, he has never slipped out of a clog accidentally until the day of today.

Personality: Jonas likes company, though he doesn’t mind being alone for a little while. Usually Jonas is quite friendly towards strangers. He likes to hear what they’ve got to say, and will –if he can share it- always offer them a drink. Jonas talks in a polite way. He’s a straight-to-the point nor very abstract talker.
Jonas is slightly introverted, not talking much about his feelings and personal issues.

Fact remains that Jonas isn’t very open-minded.
He’s not afraid to try something new, but tends to be a little bit too stubborn and will not believe many things unless he has seen it with his own eyes. Therefore, religion is nothing for Jonas. This stubbornness results in Jonas not easily giving up, and not liking to see himself losing.

Annoying him can be done by proving yourself childish and egoistic. It takes a lot to make him really angry though; only extreme things make him furious. When he expresses himself when he’s annoyed he tends to do it in a sarcastic way, or just tell the annoying to shut up. When being furious he’ll let his fists do the talking.

Jonas is a thinker. He’s the person that comes up with solutions for problems and most of the time he has a plan B. He is interested in a lot of things, like music, art, biology, philosophy and history. Architecture and technical stuff should be on top of this list, as he’s a craftsman.

Biography: Once upon a time there was a small independent island. It was independent and completely isolated from Hyrule and Termina, as its location was in the middle of the ocean, a few hundred miles away from those great nations. However, they did speak the same language as the roots of this island do begin in Hyrule and Termina.

A long time ago, when the times were quite bad indeed the land was plagued by diseases and hunger. A group of brave people who didn’t believe the earth was a pancake choose their own fate and set sail for new lands. Tortured by storms and a nasty virus the journey proved itself to be very hard and long. But when the despair was at its peak after weeks of sailing they found what they had been looking for: a fruitful island large enough to carry a whole new generation.

Not many more than two-hundred men and women started the process of human life. Trees were cut down and houses were built, beasts were killed and the little amount of cattle they had brought was the source of a whole new generation of milk and eggs.
We’ll skip quite some years from here, and will pick up the story when the people have found harmony with the nature and when the children are well educated.

Jonas’ mother had died shortly after Jonas’ birth, leaving him as a single child. His father was a carpenter and craftsman who was a hard worker. He made things for the people like wardrobes, tables, chairs, toys, carts, and tools.

From young age on Jonas learned a lot of these things from his father; he would probably become a fine craftsman like his father. Beside the things Jonas learned from his father, he went to school. He was eager to learn, though perhaps he was a bit too talkative. He always had a friend or two around him, with who he explored the island.
When he grew up he began fishing, a skill that not only brought food but also gave him some swimming, rowing and fishing skills.

As for many stories, it’s not all sugar and flowers. The turning point in Jonas’ life came when he was at the fine age of twenty. It was on this particular day that he went rowing on the sea and got caught in a sudden storm, resulting in his little boat breaking by the huge waves and throwing Jonas into the mercy of the sea.

Luckily for Jonas, the mercy of the sea-gods was with him. He got hold of a piece of floating wood from his boat and spent hours just trying to stay afloat. At night he lost his grip on the piece of wood and got washed into the flow of the ocean.
Exhausted and thirsty Jonas eventually found himself lying on a beach. The first thing he noticed, was that the sun was shining. The storm was over. He found himself lying on a beautiful beach; white sand, shells, and here and there a small crab. It couldn’t have been more peaceful, though in his aching head the storm was raging; just where was he?

There he was, twenty year old Jonas being trapped on an uncharted island where nothing lived but animals, trees and in between those two (also known as Deku Scrubs). At first, Jonas had been terribly afraid of the whole situation. But when his stomach started to rumble, he went out to search food on the island. On that first exploration of the island he didn’t only find food (berries), but also water (a small river) and shelter (a cave).

In fifteen years he never saw a ship, never a chance to be rescued.

The time made his dearest memories of his father and home country fade, though not disappear. The sun tanned his skin and doing a lot of physical effort gave him muscles. He collected berries, hunted on animals, fished in the sea and made clothes out of the dead sea-mammals that were washed upon the shores of the island.
Beside those primary things, Jonas kept himself busy with making tools which he used to build things that made his life more comfortable. He made tools out of sticks and stones, huts, furniture and other useful things. In these years Jonas became a quite skilled craftsman.

If a complete description of how he managed to survive is wanted, then it is wise to go to your local storyteller and ask to him to tell you the story of the heroic Goron called Robinson and his companion, the Deku Crusoe.

The more time passed, the more Jonas started to appreciate the beauty of the island. A common thing that happens when people get isolated from other people for a long time is that they turn mad. Jonas however did not. By keeping himself busy and by meditating he sharpened his mind instead of losing it. However, he does realize that he mustn’t stay very much longer on the island if he ever wants to speak to someone again.

Recently, Jonas has been working on a boat. After analysing the currents of the ocean he figured that the civilized world should be an awful amount of miles to the east. That boat that will be the bridge to the civilized world.
Now, after more than fifteen years of isolation he is about to leave the island. Packed with food and water his boat is about to set sail to the unknown horizon and hopefully a civilized world.

Item storage: Jonas’ coat is a multi-functional object. Not only it gives warmth and shelter, but the many big pockets make it also useful for storaring most of his stuff.
Beside the coat, Jonas had made himself some sort of messenger bag. Just a leather bag with a single shoulder strap firmly attached to it. He uses it to carry stuff that is too big or too heavy for his coat.

Skills: Jonas doesn’t have any fancy skills like being a swordmaster or a skilled magician. However is quite agile and he does have a pair of fine muscles, making his fists his primary weapons.
Beside those mean rocks at the end of his arms, he can throw a rock with quite some speed and accuracy- a skill he obtained by years of hunting.
He doesn’t really master a certain weapon, though he certainly wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with a nice stick or a knife.

Obviously the years on the island made him a skilled survivor. Knowing what plants are eatable, what to do when a scorpion stings you and what the best way to cook a squirrel is.

Weapon and items: Nothing special; some basic tools like a knife (made out of a rock), some rope (the fibers of a certain plant), etcetera.

Starting Place: The Great Ocean

As always a pleasure to read. However, fifteen years do seem a bit long to my tastes. Not that I know how people would actually act in fifteen years of solace, but even if they have something to do the lack of someone to talk to, would at least give them a bit of a weird twist towards other humans... I like to imagine he'd at least talked to squirrels or Deku Scrubs.

So I'll not hold it against you, it is a beautifly written app, I like it a lot.

Though net very creative, I stole your idea of Jonas talking to other living things (last paragraph of personality, second-last paragraph in history).
It'll be an interesting thing to play =P. Thanks for the check ^^

All-in-all I enjoyed reading your app. Sentences like: 'Beside those mean rocks at the end of his arms, he can throw a rock with quite some speed and accuracy-' made it quite interesting to read. However, I would like to point out a few things.

Firstly, your grammar. While not bad, I suggest spell-checking your app in word or in Firefox. There aren't many mistakes, but that net (instead of not) at the front of your application hit me early on, and it threw me off-balance as to what I could expect from you as I read. There were a some spelling mistakes and the occasional 'weird' sentence dotting your application, however, there weren't enough for me to ask you to re-submit this.

Second I must ask you to withhold from mentioning real world organizations in your app. This: 'His most important garment is his leather coat, made from the skin of a couple of seals (he made it himself, far away from the eyes of Greenpeace; the seals were dead though).' dragged the reader away from Hyrule and grounded your character in the real world. It was a cute little touch, but it was just a tad too much.

My third issue is something I cannot force you to do, and I will absolutely refuse to say that this counts towards my opinion of your application being more negative. This here sentence: 'Recently, Jonas has been working on a boat. After analysing the currents of the ocean he figured that the civilized world should be an awful amount of miles to the east.' didn't make sense to me at first. I thought that you had suddenly skipped from the island to some weird future in which he was working on a boat. It was not until the sentence afterwards that it was made clear that he was actually building a boat instead of working on one as a job. What I want to say with this, is that if you catch yourself making a sentence that seems a bit vague to you in the future, attempt to lead the reader in the direction you want them to go by stating exactly what your character is doing instead of something that could be interpreted incorrectly.
Aside from that, I want to correct analysing, it's analyzing with a z.

As I said before, I enjoyed reading your application, and I hope that you learn from my (and Collin's) criticism to become an even better writer. Check two, and you're in smile.gif.

Filtered the main mistakes and errors out. Thank you very much for letting me improve the app that little bit ^^
