I'm working on a report for my education as an IT professional and right now I'm investigating what the consequences of a certain size of screen resolution is. I'd appreciate it if you took some time to answer this short list of questions. Thanks a lot!
( If you have multiple monitors, please skip to the second list. )
--- SINGLE SCREEN QUESTIONNAIRE ---
1. What screen resolution do you use? (windows: right-click your desktop, select properties, select last tab)
2. What screen resolution can your monitor handle? (e.g. can it handle a higher resolution than the one you are using right now)
3. What is your screen's size in inches?
4. Do you feel that using one maximized window and switching between programs using your taskbar is more productive or useful than keeping windows unmaximized and just dragging them around and highlighting them, or in reverse?
5. Do you think using multiple screens would be more productive?
--- MULTI SCREEN QUESTIONNAIRE ---
Answer the following question per screen.
1. What screen resolution do you use? (windows: right-click your desktop, select properties, select last tab)
2. What screen resolution can your monitor handle? (e.g. can it handle a higher resolution than the one you are using right now)
3. What is your screen's size in inches?
Answer these questions only once.
4. In what way have you organized your screens? (e.g. on top of eachother, next to eachother, etc.)
5. Do you feel that using one maximized window and switching between programs using your taskbar is more productive or useful than keeping windows unmaximized and just dragging them around and highlighting them, or in reverse?
6. Have you ever thought of going back to one screen?
7. Do you think using multiple screens is more productive than using a single screen?
I'll fill it in myself to clarify how this questionnaire is to be filled in.
--- MULTI SCREEN QUESTIONNAIRE ---
SCREEN 1:
1. 1280 x 800
2. 1280 x 800
3. 15,4"
SCREEN 2:
1. 1024 x 768
2. 1024 x 768
3. 15"
4. Secondary screen to the right of the primary screen.
5. I prefer them maximized, otherwise I'll get distracted of my main task. I try to organize screens in a way that I can focus on doing one thing at a time.
6. I use a laptop so I switch between single and multi monitor very often. I don't mind it.
7. Yes, because I can work on a project on one screen and keep a reference, manual or instructions or whatever open in the other screen.

1. 1280 * 800
2. i dunno lol ¯\(°_o)/¯

1. 1280x800 (to my fellow Vista users, right-click on the desktop, select 'Graphic Properties' and then 'Display Settings')
2. 1280x800 is the highest resolution, I believe.
3. 17 in. widescreen.
4. I usually use the 'one maximized window' routine, but if I have a movie or something going in a corner, everything is unmaximized and gets moved around to compensate for the movie =]
5. It definitely could be, but I don't need it.

-SINGLE SCREEN-
1. 1440x900
2. 1440x900
3. 15.4 in.
4. I use OSX 10.5's Spaces feature, which creates multiple virtual screens, for different windows more often than not. When I don't use it, I tend towards leaving unused windows in the background and highlighting them to use them.
5. For me, it likely wouldn't make a difference.

Wow, so far you guys have large screens and high resolutions! Did you know the average resolution in Scandinavia is 1600x1200 on a 21" screen?

2. 1280 x 1024
3. 17"
4. Max windows, unless I have to compare stuff (like Nomi said).
5. Yes, absolutely. I sometimes use my Eee PC as a second screen for reference material and the like, but actually having two monitors would be so much better.

2. 1280 x 800
3. 17 inch, I guess
4. Most of the time, I only have Firefox maximized

Single screen
1> 1280*1024
2> 1600*1200
3> (taken from the dell website: * VIS (viewable image size) 457 mm (17.952 inches)
4> Maximized, I just can't work with multiple window at a time, heck, I'm glad I got winamp to not clutter up my screen by putting it over the top bar
5> if this damn screen weren't so big for my desk, and I'd actually HAVE a second screen, I'd definitely use it, it's just nice to have a backup monitor when you need to check stuff and don't (for instance) want to alt-tab out of a game

5. Yes, I want to be able to put my laptop aside and just have a screen and keyboard/tablet in front of me. Alas, a screen is too expensive at the moment...
