Full Version: Character Tv Tropes
Zeldafront RPG Stone > Tael, Tatl & Navi > Navi
Jenas Aenad
There is a site on this beautiful, enormous entity we call the internet, and that site is called tvtropes. Those of you that have heard of it (or worse, actually checked it out) have probably noticed that Tv Tropes has ruined your life. Those that haven't, will soon notice that it will ruin your life.

Now, I've been spending way too much time on that site, and have been gathering tropes from around the world to fit my character and so can you.

I will post the tropes befitting for Jenas soon, but first two more notes:

1. Tropes are not clichés and they are not a bad thing, so don't be afraid to admit to having one fit your character.
2. Provide links to the articles that feature your tropes, so everyone can see what you mean by it (also try to give a short explanation)

Jenas Aenad:
Badass Normal - Since he has no superpowers or any inherent magic, but still kicks a lot of ass.
Big Screwed-up Family - in which he, of course, plays the part of
Black Sheep
The Combat Pragmatist - Yeah, to hell with rules when it comes to a battle
Crowning Moment of Awesome - Some of his actions while defending the Western Wall, or maybe even the whole defence itself.
Gentleman Thief - Need I even explain?
Hypocritical Humor - "Mages were often very tough to deal with, superiority complex, and all that."
Improbable Weapon User - The belt, my friends.
It's All About Me - Though perhaps not that excessive
Karma Houdini - Why he isn't in jail yet
Missed Moment of Awesome - the post I had to edit. Though that has been restored in one of the later posts.
Mission Control - The later turns of the battle for Clocktown
Neutral Evil
Parental Abandonment - Okay, he ran away, but it counts.
Properly Paranoid - See my signature
Reliable Traitor - The quote from Jack Sparrow fits perfectly.
Sophisticated As Hell - "I don't give an invisible rats' ass about the civilians!"
Xanatos Speed Chess - His defence of the Western Wall counts as this.
Weak But Skilled

As an end note, if you find a trope that fits another character, don't hesitate to say so (which also goes if you think one absolutely doesn't fit), we're all friends here, right?
Rian
Okay, tropes that fit Rian Gyolo...
Ancestral Weapon- Cadabolg, without a doubt.
The Atoner- How Rian sees himself after working for Big Bad Igos du Ikana
Badass Cape- The Roc's cape, which Rian can shapeshift into a pair of gliding wings. It also looks cool.
Finishing Move- Banisher, all the way.
Flaming Sword- Rian can set his sword on fire temporarily with a concoction he whipped up.
Grappling Hook Pistol- Rian has one in the shape of a gauntlet on his left arm.
Healing Potion- Rian can brew Red Potions, among other things.
Magic Knight- Rian has a few magic techniques that he can use with his sword.
Nice Job Breaking It Hero- The battle in Ikana is won, and Igos can finally rest in peace... Wait, why are all these ominous dark clouds still here? Led to Rian's Heel Face Turn.
Power Glows- Rian's magic techniques tend to be rather shiny, especially his finishing move.
Well-Intentioned Extremist- Rian drifted into this territory when he joined Igos in an attempt to try and help Igos find peace so that he could go to the afterlife.

I might think of more later. (Last Updated: October 23, 2009)
Reese
Neat Freak - Reese likes needs it clean.
The Smart Guy - Pretty self-explanatory, I think.
Reluctant Warrior - Reese doesn't like fighting, but he does what he's got to.
Fish Out of Water - Reese feels overwhelmed not just on adventures, but social situations, too. Poor guy.
Closer to Earth - His wife is so much more functional and grounded.
Character Tics - He has a couple of twitches...

If there's one I over-looked for a lovably socially-awkward guy, let me know. All the ones I found were too Gary Sue to be accurate (and/or were too centered around romance, which is a moot point for Reese).
Aure
Wow that site will take up way too much of my time if I continue reading it... Bookmarked! I haven't been able to compile a list yet but will try to soon.
Raziya
Wow, this site is addictive. I cannot break its hold over me.

Raziya:

-Ambition is Evil- It is, after all, her ambition that has gotten her into the villain game.
-Face Heel Turn- Switched from 'hero mercenary' to dark side.
-Jumping Off the Slippery Slope- Originally she was in it just for the money, but has become slightly sadistic recently.
-The Unfettered- Raziya is willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish her goals, one of the best things about a mercenary.
-The Combat Pragmatist- Raziya fights to win, and doesn't give a damn about rules. Goes hand-in-hand with The Unfettered.
-Evil Feels Good- Along with the Slippery Slope, she's liking how it feels to be bad.
-Start of Darkness- Igos' Castle, in Ikana.
-Lawful Evil- Her alignment. Raz has slipped over to the dark side, but likes to explore options before annihilating people.
-What Is Evil?- As any good villain would, Raziya doesn't see herself as the bad guy in the situation.
-Badass Cape- I couldn't help myself =D so I gave her a cape.
-Fallen Hero- Essentially. Her history is positively glittering with good deeds.
-Crowning Moment of Awesome- Being the catalyst for the impenetrable nightfall in Termina. Definitely.
-Arguably The A Dragon- which is one of the 'minibosses' leading up to the 'Big Bad'. I assume there will be a standoff between Raz and the heroes before they get to the undead king.

. . . I am afraid. That could be one list. Guess I'd better put mine up before you take out the neighborhood. biggrin.gif

I do not really understand this Tvtropes . . . thingy. It is too much input. But here's the lame excuse for a list I got . . .

-Attention Deficit Disciple: Rea can't keep thinking about one thing for longer than thirty seconds . . . or shorter . . . and she follows Darian. That works, right?
-The Determinator: I honestly don't know if there'll ever be anything to take Rea down . . . This could be a major author flaw *dorky grin*
-Unusual Ephemism(s): I haven't used one of her grandpa's phrases in so long . . . *sigh* I miss that snarky ol' man.
-Narm: Well, okay, her childish serious moments look more adorably funny than make-fun-of funny . . . I guess.
-Children are Innocent: . . . Well, yeah.

There you go, my silly-willy list of . . . weird webpages! Yeah . . . uh, great. Um . . . <.<;;

Everyone else's are very interesting ^.^

I'm the one at Clocktown right now. I'd be the first miniboss. And I'll probably make a list for myself later.

Well, don't you think the Dark Chick fits better?
Raziya
Siras: Of course tounge.gif There can be multiple Dragons. Lemme edit that to 'A Dragon' instead of 'the'.

Jenas: Have you lost your mind? You have obviously either not read the page you just linked me to, or have no clue who Raziya is as a character tounge.gif Here's a quote from the very first paragraph that already proves you wrong.
QUOTE
Just as the heroic Chick represents diversity and an emphasis on emotion, so, too, does the Dark Chick.

If you think Raziya represents diversity or emotion, you're as blind as she is.
Aure
Here's a few that I browsed up... I'm sure there's way more out there that fit Aure well. I'll gladly accept submissions.

- He is definitely a Bookworm. Sometimes, it's like he's a member of the Genius Book Club.
- Sometimes, Aure feels burdened by The Chains of Commanding and wishes he didn't have to do all the important stuff.
- Recently, Aure has been given quite a bit of power, becoming somewhat like Cincinnatus.
- As far as the Zf story is related, over the past few years, Everyone Is Related to him it seems... This has ended up in a Sibling Rivalry akin to Cain and Abel.
- Seems to be enmeshed in a Hopeless War at the moment.
- He can be a bit of a Neat Freak; many posts make a reference of him tirelessly dusting off his clothes.
- He's usually Nice to the Waiter, or rather his secretaries who do most of his work.
- Can sometimes be a bit too much of a Standardized Leader, if I'm particularly lazy when writing. He definitely Took A Level In Badass at points in Zf history though.
Collin
I think you forgot The Cape. cool.gif

Aure.edit: I thought that one would be self-evident tounge.gif

Lol. Yeah, I guess it is. It's THE thing that makes Aure, though. tounge.gif
Rea Fairchild
Lol, Collin is definitely right. I think I'm going to call you "The Cape" from now on, Aure--I mean, The Cape. Can I be in your Genius Book Club, The Cape? XD

I found some more for Rea . . . and her family smile.gif I was GOING to look for other people, but, what can I say, I got . . . distracted.

Rea's definitely a Daddy's Girl, to a fault. Although she IS beginning to grow out of it . . . but her dad? Not for a loooong time. He has kind of a King Triton Syndrome. You can bet he'll be interviewing and hating all of her future dates and all that, but maybe getting stuck underneath Ikana Castle for weeks on end will mellow him out . . . or make him more cautious. There's probably a trope for that, too.

Poor Rea has conveniently lost her parents. I'm afraid I must admit to that, as well as her Doomed Hometown, considering I used that as the excuse for her grandpa to unrealistically let her go. I think I pulled them both off pretty well, considering sleep.gif

Last of all, Rea's mother is a Damsel in Distress. A very bored and annoyed one, so maybe she's more like this damsel. She's like the God Mode Mother, which should be a trope if it isn't. People would think that Ol' Ramoni was HER father, and not her husband Feren's, since they are both short-tempered or something when it comes to family. They are both conveniently in situations where their Awesomeness is useless, though. Old Mr. Fairchild is of course racked with old age, but he refuses to accept it. Then again, that could be another trope for Feren Fairchild. He's the exact opposite of his dad, very whiny and a daddy's boy, even though his dad really didn't know it, which resulted in several Inverted Ironic Echo Cuts between them.

I am having too much fun with this. I need to stop now.
Siras
Do me! I'm to lazy to do myself. To much reading.
Rian
No.

Added some more examples to Rian, if anyone cares.
Ventus
Big Screwed up Family: Must I explain? His family has some issues.

Bratty Half-pint: Namely Cecilia.

Child Mage: I think this one is very self-explanotory

Wise beyond their years: Yeah that's me... for now.

Disappeared dad: Mainly Ventus' fault but still.

Cake Eater: Cecilia is way older than Ventus sad.gif

The Not Love Interest: Vataan is so shafted, for now.
